Deruta Galletto Green 9.5″ Dinner Plate

Like all our Deruta dinnerware, these plates are dishwasher safe. Each ceramic plate was handcrafted and painted by the artists of Ceramiche Sberna in Deruta, Umbria, Italy. The Galletto pattern is a modified version of green and white ceramic originating in the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13^th century.

In the 19^th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern. The leaves were also modernized. As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune to the home.
