Deruta Galletto Blue Pencil Holder

This ceramic pencil holder was handcrafted and painted by the artists of Ceramiche Sberna in Deruta, Italy. It would be perfect for toothbrushes as well! The Galletto pattern is a modified version of a pattern that came out of the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13^th century.  In the 19^th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern and the leaves were also modernized.  As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune to the home.

The Galletto Blue Pencil Holder is 4″ in height with a 2.5″ diameter. Measurements are approximate.
