Deruta Galletto Blue 4″ Bowl

This bowl was hand-painted by Ceramiche Sberna in Deruta, Umbria, Italy, and it is dishwasher safe. The Galletto pattern is a modified version of green and white ceramics that came out of the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13^th century. In the 19^th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern and the leaves were also modernized.  As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune to the home.

It is two inches deep with a four and three quarters diameter. Measurements are approximate.
