Deruta Galletto Blue Cheese/Sugar Bowl with Spoon
Galletto is a modified version of a pattern that came from Orvieto in the 13th century. In the 19th century, centuries after Deruta became the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern. As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune because of a legend about the Medici family from the 15th century in which crowing roosters alerted Giuliano de Medici to approaching hired assassins.
The Galletto Blue Sugar Bowl is 3.5″ in height. Measurements are approximate. This ceramic sugar bowl is perfect for grated cheese, sugar, honey, or jam.
