Deruta Arabesco Red 8.5″ Medium Rooster Pitcher

With a charming design of a spritely bird in the leaves and flowers, Arabesco is a widely popular ceramic pattern that comes from the town of Deruta in the Italian region of Umbria.  Dating back to a legend about the Medici family in the 15^th century in which crowing roosters alerted Giuliano de Medici to hired assassins approaching, rooster pitchers such as these are considered to be providers of good luck and fortune. This ceramic rooster pitcher was handcrafted and painted by the artists Sberna of Deruta, Italy.
