Ceramiche di Sicilia 9” Vase with Olive Harvest and Sowing Seeds
This vase is a such a fun shape, and there is so much happening on it. Wrapping around is a scene of a wholly Italian tradition, the olive harvest, or La raccolta delle olive. Happy people shake the olive branches so the fruit falls and is gathered from the ground. Meanwhile, in the foreground, farmers plow the soil with their horse as they sow seeds for the next crop. This vase was hand painted in Baucina, a small town outside Palermo, Sicily, Italy. Their work is inspired by the work of famed artisan De Simone. Indeed, life springs forth from every detail of this vibrant and joyous piece of Italian pottery.
This vase is 9″ in height. The base is 10.75″ in diameter, and the opening at the top is 2.75′ in diameter. Measurements are approximate.
