Luca Della Robbia was a Florentine Renaissance sculptor who developed a glaze that is durable outdoors. The subjects of his work were primarily serene scenes, unlike dramatic pieces created by his contemporaries. Although he worked with marble and bronze, he is best known for his work with terracotta. His nephew, Andrea, took over command of the studio after his death.
This wall piece with Mother and Child is ready to go on a wall. It is one of our more religious pieces. It was handcrafted and hand-painted in Montelupo Fiorentino, one of the original centers of Italian ceramics.
