Tuscan 7″ Pitcher with Foglia di Montelupo Blue
This pitcher was handcrafted and hand-painted by the artisans of Tuscia. You can see evidence of this in some of the images. It was handmade in Montelupo Fiorentino, which is a municipality in the city of Florence in the region of Tuscany.
From the end of the 13th century and throughout the Renaissance, this town was one of the most important ceramic production centers in all of Europe. The Foglia, or “leaf,” is the oak leaf on so many fragments of early ceramic objects found in archeological sites near Montelupo. This pitcher is 7″ in height and 6″ in diameter. Measurements are approximate.
