Sicilian Santo Stefano 8.5″ First Stone Wall Plaque with Mythical Beast
Sicily is a land of beautiful mystery wrapped in the mythologies of many cultures. This plaque, with its dragon-like monster striking quite the elegant pose, is a tribute to that mysterious, fantastical, mythological, part of Sicily. It is also a tribute to the “grottesco” styles of certain Italian Renaissance master painters. This plaque was handcrafted and hand-painted by Fratantoni of Santo Stefano di Camastra, Sicily. As you can see, the plaque was signed by the artist.
