Sicilian Caltagirone Pigna Finial/Lamp Base

This lamp base was handcrafted and hand-painted by Giacomo Alessi. He is not only a master of his craft, but he is also a scholar in the field. His work in both majolica and writing has been featured internationally but is especially cherished in Italy.

His pieces from Caltagirone evoke a mythological world of beauty cultivated by the rich Sicilian culture. The pinecone-like shape is traditional to the region. This piece is a slightly different blue from the other Sicilian Pine Style Lamp Base we have from the region.

As is seen in the secondary images, this piece of Italian pottery is drilled for wiring. It could also be beautiful as decor without the lamp. It is a beautiful finial in its own right.

This Sicilian Pigne Lamp Base is 9.5″ in height. It has a 6.5″ diameter at its widest point. Measurements are approximate.
