Ricco Deruta 7″ Small Rooster Pitcher
Dating back to the sixteenth century, the Italian Ricco design is heavily influenced by the frescoes of Renaissance artist Pietro Perugino. He was the mentor of Raphael, and their work inspired the patterns of Deruta ceramics that date back to the sixteenth century. According to a legend surrounding the Medici family in the 15th century, crowing roosters alerted Giuliano de Medici to hired assassins approaching, and so rooster pitchers such as these are considered to be providers of good luck and fortune. This ceramic rooster, or chicken, pitcher was handcrafted and painted by the artists of Ceramiche Sberna in Deruta, Italy. It is dishwasher safe.
This Rooster Pitcher is 7″ in height and can hold 14 oz, or 1/4 liter. Measurements are approximate.
