Limoni di Sicilia Blue 7″ Small Rooster Pitcher

Because of the Medici family’s legend in the 15th century in which crowing roosters alerted Giuliano de Medici to hired assassins approaching, rooster pitchers like this one are considered good fortune providers. Lemons were brought to Sicily by the Arabs when they colonized the island. The volcanic ash in the soil around Mount Etna combines with the Mediterranean climate to produce fruit unique to the island.

These lemons are featured on the Limoni di Sicilia pattern that comes from Santo Stefano di Camastra. This Limoni rooster or chicken pitcher was handcrafted and hand-painted in Santo Stefano di Camastra, Sicily. It is 7″ in height and can hold 14 oz. Measurements are approximate.
