Inspired by the dragons on the frescoes painted by Renaissance artist Raphael, the pattern Raffaellesco originated in the late 16th century in the town of Deruta in the Italian region of Umbria.  This ceramic platter was handcrafted and painted by the artists of Ceramiche Sberna in Deruta, Umbria, Italy, and it is the size and shape of platters traditionally used for serving fish.
