Deruta Galletto Green Canister Set

Each canister is the perfect size for holding your flours, sugars, teas, herbs, or spices. They bring charm into the kitchen. The Galletto pattern is a modified version of green and white ceramics that came out of the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13^th century.  The original Galletto pattern was green and white in color.  In the 19^th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern and the leaves were also modernized.  As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune to the home because of a legend about the Medici family in the 15^th century in which crowing roosters alerted Giuliano de Medici about the approach of hired assassins. Each ceramic canister was handcrafted and painted by the artists Sberna in Deruta, Italy.

The Galletto Green Canister set includes in the following four sizes:

10″ in height with a 6.5″ diameter

8″ in height with a 5 3/4″ diameter

6″ in height with a 4 1/4″ diameter

5″ in height with a 3 3/4″ diameter

The heights are approximate and include the lids.
