Deruta Galletto Green 12″ Round Serving/Wall Platter

At 12″ in diameter, this charger plate is a good size for use as a platter or dinner plate. It is dishwasher safe. It was handcrafted and painted by the artists Labor Deruta of Deruta, Umbria, Italy.

The Galletto pattern is a modified version of green and white ceramic from the Umbrian town of Orvieto in the 13^th century. In the 19^th century, centuries after Deruta had become the center of Umbrian ceramics, a rooster was added to the pattern. The leaves were also modernized.

As well as being a lovely addition to the pattern, the rooster is said to bring good fortune to the home. This plate is food safe. It has been drilled to hang as wall decor.
