Each of these Italian flagons, or bottles or jugs, was handcrafted and hand-painted by the artisans at Tuscia in the Tuscan town of Montelupo Fiorentino, one of the original centers of Italian majolica and pottery. During the Italian Renaissance, when Italian majolica developed into its own art, it was fashionable to give pieces, such as these flagons, as engagement gifts as well as wedding and birthday gifts. These two flagons, with nobleman and noblewoman, are sold together as a pair. They are beautiful enough to stand as decor.
Each flagon is 19" tall. It is 12" from spout to handle tip. Measurements are approximate.
