The gold on this large bowl is 24 karat gold. It is applied by the method that is known as terza cottura, which roughly translates to “the third cooking.” After the piece is cooked twice, as all Italian pottery is, the artisan applies a solution that is 18% 24 karat gold and 82% solvents to the desired area. The terza cottura is done at a low temperature in the kiln so that the solvents can evaporate, leaving behind a thin coat of pure 24 karat gold. This footed bowl is a beauty that would be perfect "centro tavola," at the center of the table or anywhere in the home. It was handcrafted by ND Dolfi of Montelupo Fiorentino, Tuscany, Italy out of the finest Italian pottery, or maiolica.
This ND Dolfi Footed Bowl is 8.5" in height with a 13" diameter at its widest point. Measurements are approximate.
Please note: This ceramic piece was intended for decorative use only.
